Medina Valley Independent School District families with students impacted by 2024-25 attendance zones received an email, text and phone call via ParentSquare on February 9.
Updated attendance zones come with the opening next school year of Silos Elementary and specialized bilingual hubs. Silos Elementary will help alleviate student capacity at elementary schools. With more than 8,700 students districtwide, enrollment has increased 12 percent in the last nine months.
“We understand that these changes are not easy for our families and staff, and they are only made when necessary to help balance the number of students at our campuses” said MVISD Superintendent Dr. Scott Caloss. “With the rapid growth that we are experiencing, updates to attendance zones are inevitable, but we can assure all of our parents that no matter the MVISD campus that your child is zoned to, we will work to provide the best educational experience possible for them.”
The MVISD Board of Trustees approved the updated elementary attendance zones in December 2023. Attendance zones are geographic areas that districts use to assign students to schools.
The opening of the new bilingual hubs at LaCoste and Ladera elementaries will allow for specialized and intentional instruction aligned with best practices.
